A small, private Longhua (龍華) sect zhaitang (齋堂), or fasting hall, of the Zhaijiao (齋教) folk religion established in 1853 just outside the old walled city of Hsinchu. The hall still takes the form of a traditional courtyard home tucked along the small streets around the periphery of the downtown core and operates without any formal management structure or Buddhist association affiliation. Its precise history is not well-documented.
