Completed in 1942, late in the Japanese colonial era, this historic fire hall (新竹合同廳舍) was restored and turned into a museum in 2002. The six-storey watchtower, once the tallest structure in Hsinchu, was built with air defence in mind as much as firefighting and saw a lot of use during World War 2, as the city regularly suffered Allied air raids. Under restoration as of summer 2025.
