A former branch of the Bank of Taiwan, which opened an office on this site in Hsinchu in 1905 and rebuilt it as a two-storey reinforced concrete building in the 1930s, during the Japanese colonial era. It passed to other banks after the war and has been closed since the last of them sold it in 2014. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but retains its original vault and double-height banking hall, and it was designated a city monument in 2018.
