In 1949 a small theater was established in Fulai Village (副瀨村) by Huang Bingheng (黃炳恆) from Puzi and several local residents. Programming varied from traditional opera and plays to film screenings. It closed sometime in the 1960s and was demolished long ago. In 2018 the former site was cleaned up, concrete was poured to create a plaza, and a red brick wall was erected to commemorate Fulai Community Old Theater (副瀨社區老戲院).

Some uncertainty exists about the name of this theater as official sources simply describe it as the “old theater” (老戲院) without providing any further details. Based on records of opera troupes passing through the area it may have been named either Minghua Theater (明華戲院) or Huaxing Theater (華興戲院), although these names might also refer to another place.
