A syrup processing facility completed in 1980, connected to Chishang Station via the Taitung Sugar Factory Chishang Line. Intended to reduce transportation costs for raw sugar cane, the factory operated for only a few years before closing in 1986 due to falling international sugar prices and declining local cultivation. The surrounding land was converted to the Chishang Pastoral Resort (池上牧野渡假村) in 1994, but the factory building remains abandoned as of 2025. A 2022 proposal to redevelop it as a tourist factory and solar power facility was opposed by local residents.
