Established in 1701 in Chiayi City and dedicated to Baosheng Dadi (保生大帝), a medicine god. The temple takes its name from Renwu in Kaohsiung, where the Zheng-era garrison that carried the image to Chiayi had previously been stationed. In 1938, under the Kōminka movement (皇民化運動), the image was removed to Chiayi Chenghuang Temple and the property confiscated. Local gentry bought it back in 1945 and reinstalled the deity in 1947. The temple still keeps bins of medicinal lottery sticks (藥籤) sorted by type of ailment.
