Faint traces remain of a shinyo (suicide boat) base can still be found along a creek on the outskirts of Haikou Village in Checheng, Pingtung. Originally stationed here were the 27th and 28th squadrons. Additional facilities were also located in Xiapu (下埔) and Sichongxi (四重溪), but most have been lost to time.
