A memorial at the final resting place of 54 Ryukyuan sailors who perished at the beginning of what is generally known as the Mudan Incident (牡丹社事件) in 1871. During the 1874 punitive expedition against the Taiwanese Indigenous people their remains were interred at this location, and the current monument was constructed in 1906.
