A Japanese World War 2 ammunition depot near Damei, a Paiwan Indigenous village also known as Pungudan. Now locally referred to as “bat cave” (蝙蝠洞) for obvious reasons, the tunnels are carved into a sheltered hillside near the base of Hengchun Peninsula. As a poorly documented facility the name is not known with certainty; there’s a chance it might have also been named in relation to Sichongxi (四重溪), a popular hot springs resort town immediately to the south.
