Shimen Loyal Spirit Monument (征蕃役戰死病歿忠魂碑) - Spectral Codex
征蕃役戰死病歿忠魂碑

A monument to the 547 Japanese soldiers who perished in battle or from disease during the 1874 punitive expedition against the Taiwanese Indigenous people of the area. It is located on the same hillside as the Commander Saigo Judo Monument, but the original stone stele has been lost, and the inscription removed, leaving only the base of this particular monument. Even so, it was awarded heritage status in 2011.
