Established in 1950 as Zhongxing New Village (中興新村), the name was later shortened to avoid confusion with the provincial capital built in nearby Nantou. After it was depopulated the community was recognized for its heritage value and, as of 2025, is currently undergoing renovations into Changhua Zhongxing Villa Military Village Creative and Cultural Park (彰化中興莊眷村文化園區).
