Shuangdong Garden (草屯雙冬花園) - Spectral Codex
草屯雙冬花園

A rural amusement park originally established in 1990 in Caotun, Nantou. After running afoul of the law in 1996 it was rebranded Holland Village Amusement Park (荷蘭村主題樂園) and numerous Dutch-themed attractions were added. It was heavily damaged in the 921 Earthquake in 1999 and soon abandoned. Over the years it has become popular in the urban exploration community of Taiwan, but it is gradually being reclaimed by nature, and little remains of interest. Perhaps the most iconic scene is a series of large Buddhist statues, but you’ll likely need a machete to get anywhere. The park is accessible from a turnoff just east of Shuangdong Tunnel (雙冬隧道); watch for the concrete tetrapod and ascend to the Tudigong Temple. The entrance just beyond is blocked by fencing as of 2025. Beware snakes and hornets!
