Established in 1979 in front of the now-vanished Cailiao Railway Station (糖鐵菜寮車站) in a small town in Zuozhen, Tainan, this is a syncretic shrine fusing the believes of Han Taiwanese and Taiwanese Plains Indigenous people. From the outside it looks like any other temple in rural Taiwan, but step inside and you’ll find the main altar to Prince Chifu (池府千歲) paired with a side altar containing a ceremonial vessel wrapped in a red paper, a manifestation of the Taivoan Plains Indigenous deity Taizu (太祖).
