Toufen River Railway Bridge

Piers from two earlier generations of the Toufen River Bridge stand above the waterline of the Zhonggang River (中港溪) here, on the railway running south from Zhunan into Zaoqiao. The first bridge was completed in 1903 during the Japanese colonial era, its piers built of red brick and stone; a reinforced concrete replacement followed in 1968. Both were decommissioned and presumably dismantled when a longer double-tracked bridge opened in 1992. Some sources give it the name Zhonggang River Bridge (中港溪橋). Immediately to the south are some traces of the Zhonggang River Railway Bridge Sentry Post (中港溪鐵橋班) of the Bridge and Tunnel Garrison Company 401 (橋隧401連), a Martial Law era installation guarding the crossing.
