An ancestral hall of the Peng (彭) family, Hakka landowners whose forebears joined the Jinhuicheng (金惠成) land reclamation company that open Shuqilin (樹杞林), later renamed Zhudong, to settlement during the Qing dynasty. Known locally as Upper Longxi Hall (上隴西堂) after the family’s choronym, to distinguish it from the better preserved Lower Longxi Hall (下隴西堂) nearby, it retains only its gatehouse and main hall, the latter fronted by a roofed pavilion (軒亭) rarely seen on private homes. An outer gate with a stonewashed (洗石子) pillar opens onto the lane, and a Western-style residence stands immediately to the right of the hall.
