A group of five wooden teachers’ dormitories built in Zhudong during the Japanese colonial era, ranging from a four-unit row house for staff to a detached principal’s dormitory. The watercolour painter Xiao Ru-Song (蕭如松; 1922–1992), who taught art at Zhudong Senior High School (竹東高中) from 1946, lived in one of them for four decades. After standing empty for more than a decade following his passing, the houses were restored by Hsinchu County and opened as an art park in 2008, then registered as a historic building in 2010 under the name Xiao Ru-Song Former Residence Building Group (竹東蕭如松故居建築群).
