Originally established as a Japanese Anglican chapel known as Taishōchō Church (大正町教會), serving only the Japanese residents of the surrounding neighbourhood. It was converted into a Presbyterian church after the war. Built in an English Gothic style, it has a cruciform plan and a distinctive bell tower, and retains its original brick-and-stone walls and roof frame as well as an old organ. It was designated a municipal monument in 1998.
