Built in 1943 as staff housing for the agricultural school that preceded National Yilan University, this is the last of three rows of dormitories that once stood on the site, the others since demolished. The surviving twin-unit building follows a symmetrical Japanese plan in Taiwan cypress, with sections of bamboo-and-clay wattle wall and weatherboarding still in their original state. Listed as a historic building in 2007, it stood derelict for more than a decade before the Ministry of Culture funded its restoration, which was completed around 2024.
