Designed by modernist architect Chen Qikuan (陳其寬) and completed in 1962, the front building was originally a single dormitory for female faculty at Tunghai University (東海大學). It was built with funds raised by then-president Wu Deyao (吳德耀) from the Methodist Women’s Society of Christian Service. A second identical dormitory was added behind it in 1968 and the two structures became jointly known as Wesley Building (衛理樓). The plain white exteriors earned them the campus nickname Women’s White House (女白宮). The front building was converted into a multipurpose event space and renamed Wesley House (衛理會館) in 2014, earning heritage status in 2017.
