Niaoqizai Trail Tunnel (尿磜仔古道隧道) - Spectral Codex
尿磜仔古道隧道

A 60-meter rock-cut passage on the Niaoqizai Trail (尿磜仔古道) in the hills east of Toufen, near the Yongheshan Reservoir (永和山水庫). Farmers once carried produce through the tunnel down to Zhonggang River (中港溪), where bamboo rafts took it on to market. The peculiar place name, which contains the character for urine (尿), is variously attributed to a thin stream trickling against the rock or to a landform likened to female anatomy, though neither account can be confirmed.
