An unmanned steel-frame lighthouse on the north bank of the Tamsui River, the only lighthouse at the mouth of a river on the Taiwanese mainland. The Chinese Maritime Customs Service raised a white iron tower here in 1888 to guide steamers calling at the treaty port of Tamsui. The present 32.7-meter tower dates to 1969 and still guides local fishermen into the harbour.

I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
