Completed in 1900, this was the first brick lighthouse built in Taiwan during the Japanese colonial era, overlooking the western entrance to the Port of Keelung. Given the area’s notoriously poor weather, it was originally fitted with a fog cannon and doubled as a meteorological station. A 1962 reconstruction in reinforced concrete gave it the white conical form seen today. Designated a municipal monument in 2021, it is now a heritage site open to the public during regular visiting hours.
