財團法人中央廣播電臺淡水分臺

A shortwave transmitting station of the Central Broadcasting System (中央廣播電臺) at Shalun (沙崙), the only one in northern Taiwan, built under the Ministry of National Defense as the Fifth Transmitting Base (第五發射基地) to broadcast into southern and central China. It went on air on October 10th, 1981, with three Marconi transmitters, which were replaced with digital ones in 2012. The older Second Transmitting Base in Tamsui, in service since 1965, moved to Kouhu in 1992, and its grounds now host Cloud Gate Theater (雲門劇場). It is not open to the public.

I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
