A national museum of the prehistoric and Indigenous cultures of Taiwan in Taitung City, and the only national museum in the east of the country. It grew out of the Beinan Site, uncovered in 1980 during construction of Beinan Station (now Taitung Station), and was built at Kangle (康樂) after the protected area was enlarged in 1991, leaving the excavations to Beinan Cultural Park. Designed by American architect Michael Graves, it opened in 2002 after a fire during its trial run the year before, and reopened in 2023 after a three-year renovation.
