A Qing dynasty era residence in Shengang, Taichung, built by the Lü family, Zhao’an Hakka settlers who arrived in the Sanjiaozi area (三角仔庄) in 1790. The house took shape during the early 19th century under Lü Shifang (呂世芳), whose grain dealings made the family one of the district’s leading gentry. After the family completed the nearby Xiaoyun Villa in 1866 the older residence was gradually vacated, which left it largely preserved into the 20th century. It was designated a municipal monument in 2004, recognized as one of the earliest surviving examples of first-generation Hakka immigrant architecture in central Taiwan.
