A row of three Minnan sanheyuan compounds built by the Yang family of Qingshui, who emigrated here from Tong’an in 1756 and established these homes on the edge of a former Papora Indigenous village in 1827. The middle building was occupied by Yang Fangxi (楊金波), a late Qing dynasty degree holder, as attested by the flagpole stands (旗杆座) still found in the outer courtyard. Only the middle and south buildings survive: the north was unintentionally demolished by descendants in 2010, prompting Taichung’s emergency designation of the remainder as a city monument that July. A sign out front suggests it is open to the public on weekends.
