Taiwan Mystery

This resource documents locations featured in the art book series Taiwan Mystery (台灣謎景) by the Taiwanese psychedelic rock band Mong Tong. Each book is “a luxuriant assemblage of photos capturing mystical esoterica from across Taiwan: temples, purgatory facilities, Buddhist mummies, unusual buildings, phallic worship shrines”. The accompanying soundtrack blends slow-paced electronic psychedelia with samples from vintage video games and film, creating what the band describes as “superstitious music” inspired by Taiwanese folklore and conspiracy theories.
