A park adjacent to Cihu Mausoleum, the resting place of Chiang Kai-shek, containing hundreds of decommissioned statues of the late dictator collected from schools, government offices, and public spaces across Taiwan starting in 1997. The statues vary in material and form, with the largest donated by the city of Kaohsiung and renamed Scars and Rebirth (傷痕與再生) after restoration. It is a surreal place, at once tranquil and absurd, where one can contemplate the legacy of one of the 20th century’s most powerful and controversial figures.
