Established in 1788 in Xinpu, Hsinchu, this Hakka temple venerates the “righteous people” (義民), souls of ancestors who perished defending their new homeland. It is perhaps the most culturally important such temple in northern Taiwan. It is also known simply as the Xinpu Yimin Temple (新埔義民廟).
