The eponymous Xinpu Theater (新埔戲院) was established in a former pineapple canning factory after the industry collapsed following World War 2. It had a capacity of 600 and was mainly a performance venue for traditional opera in its early years, but film became more popular in the 1960s. It was forced to close in the 1970s after turning to racier forms of entertainment to make ends meet, but had a second life after the boss of Jinlai Theater in Xinfeng renovated the structure and briefly screened popular films again. Demolished around 2013.
