The original campus of Shen-Ao Elementary School, located in the historic Shen’aokeng (深澳坑) coal mining valley in Keelung. Teaching on the site began with a private academy in 1926 and a Japanese language institute in 1941, near the end of the Japanese colonial era. The school became a branch of Xinyi Elementary School in 1947 and was granted independent status in 1951. Constrained by the hillside, the terraced campus was abandoned in 2009 when the school moved 500 meters northwest to a new site, and the remaining buildings are undergoing demolition in 2026.
