A coal mine in the Shen’aokeng (深澳坑) valley, part of the historic Liukeng (六坑) area in Keelung originally opened by Kada-gumi (賀田組) during the Japanese colonial period. The mine passed through several owners before becoming Jinyi Coal Mine in the post-war era. Operations ceased abruptly in July 1978 when a flooding disaster at the nearby Xinyuan Coal Mine (新源煤礦) inundated interconnected tunnels, affecting four neighboring mines and putting nearly a thousand miners out of work. The main portal, a ventilation shaft, and a rusted winch on the hilltop still remain.
