Established as Ikusai-za around 1940 by Li Zimao (李滋茂), this wooden performance venue initially met with great success, but was shut down by the Japanese authorities toward the end of the war. It was also more generally known as Huatan Theater (花壇戲院), a name that was later claimed by the post-war theater of the same name. After the war it seems this theater went out of business and the building was sold and repurposed for use as a factory. After a long period of abandonment it was demolished in the 2000s and the site is now occupied by a PXmart supermarket.
