Dacun Cibei Temple (慈悲寺淑女祠十六仙姑) - Spectral Codex
慈悲寺淑女祠十六仙姑

A shrine built for 16 schoolgirls killed in a disaster at a level crossing in Dacun in 1976. 40 people perished altogether but traditional Taiwanese beliefs are especially concerned with women who die before marriage and childbirth; without descendants there would be nobody to pray and appease their spirit, which may lead to additional misfortune and tragedy. The shrine was heavily damaged in the 921 Earthquake in 1999 and later rebuilt into its current form.
