Established as Xinhua Theater (新華戲院) in 1946. It was the fourth theater in Hsinchu and the first constructed after the war. Initially it was focused almost entirely on traditional opera and also included living quarters for visiting troupes. Demolished long ago, possibly in the 1980s, and replaced by a parking lot.
