Established in 1936 as Sekai-kan (世界館), a two-story modernist structure with neo-Baroque flourishes, by Chen Qixiang (陳其祥). It was famous for its large-scale advertisements and for screening many Western films. As it survived the war without damage it resumed operations under a new name in 1945. It eventually closed due to mismanagement and was demolished around 1970.
