Gangshan Chenggong New Village

A military dependents’ village on the eastern outskirts of Gangshan. It was originally established in a sugar company staff housing complex consisting of four to five hundred red-brick rooms, each with a single door and window and no kitchen or bathroom, and presumably rebuilt at some point in its history. Nearly 500 households lived here at its peak, more than 90 percent of them families of non-commissioned officers and enlisted men serving with the ROCAF. The village was demolished in 2007 and its residents rehoused in the high-rise blocks of Lizhi New Village (勵志新村), with nothing of the original settlement left standing by the end of the decade.
