Established as Eiraku-za (永樂座) by tea merchant Chen Tianlai (陳天來) in 1924. This was a large theater with seating for more than 1,500 audience members. It was exclusively for the performance of traditional forms of opera, plays, concerts, and so on. After the war it was briefly renamed Yongle Stage (永樂舞台) and then Yongle Theater. Starting in 1954 it began to screen films in addition to hosting performances, but it only survived until 1960, and was demolished sometime after that.
