大內戲院

This theater in Danei, Tainan, was constructed in 1941 by the Danei Farmers’ Association (大內農會). It is one of only a small number of theaters dating back to the Japanese colonial era still standing in Taiwan. It shut down sometime after home television became common and is still in use as a warehouse. There isn’t much to look at, but if you’re fortunate enough to wander by when the door is open, you might observe old knob-and-tube wiring running along the ceiling.
