Originally established as a private residence, Huxian Flower and Fruit Garden (壺仙花果園), founded in 1926 by Lai Yuruo (賴雨若), Tainan Prefecture’s first Taiwanese lawyer and a celebrated poet. A gathering place for literati including painter Lin Yushan (林玉山), it was converted to a kindergarten after Lai’s death in 1941, closed in 1976, and largely demolished in 2025. Some traces may remain, but it appears as if much of the original site is now a parking lot.
