A military-style village not far from the former airbases on the northwestern side of Taichung. The name “Leihu” translates to Thunder Tiger and it might be paying tribute to the ROCAF aerobatics team of the same name. Initially it was built to provide housing for members of the US Military Assistance Advisory Group (MAAG) and their families during the period of US-ROC cooperation in the 1960s as the Vietnam War escalated. After the withdrawal of American forces from Taiwan in 1979 presumably the character of the village changed.

Note that there is also a second military village with the same name on the east side of Taichung, but the connection to this one is unclear.
