Taiwan Army Commander’s Residence (原臺灣軍司令官官邸) - Spectral Codex
原臺灣軍司令官官邸

Completed in 1929, this was originally the residence of the director of the civil engineering bureau in Japanese colonial times. It was later repurposed for use by the commander of the Taiwan Army. After the war it became an official residence of General Sun Li-jen (孫立人) until his arrest in 1955. For most of the rest of the 20th century it was a popular social club for members of the army. Nowadays it is a restaurant, café, and events space.

I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
