The first theater built in Yangmei, originally established as Yobai-za (楊梅座) or Yobai-gekijō (楊梅劇場) in the late Japanese colonial period by Zhong Hegui (鍾和桂). The date of construction is given as either 1934 or 1943, which may indicate the theater was rebuilt later on. It was also known by the name Dacheng Theater (大成戲院), which may represent a post-war renaming.
