Nangang Tunnel (南港隧道) - Spectral Codex

Completed in 1896 as Zhangshuwan Tunnel (樟樹灣隧道), this 97 meter-long passage was the first railway tunnel built in the Japanese colonial era and the first in Taiwan with double track clearance. It was rebuilt in concrete in 1976 and taken out of service in 2008. It now carries a motorcycle and bicycle path; a plaque inscribed by Itō Hirobumi (伊藤博文) once mounted above the portal is held by Taiwan Historica (國史館臺灣文獻館), with a replica displayed in central Xizhi.
