Hydroelectric power plant at the mouth of Taroko Gorge on the Liwu River. Originally completed in 1944 by the East Taiwan Electric Power Company (東臺灣電力興業株式會社) as the fourth-largest hydroelectric plant in Taiwan, it was destroyed by a typhoon the same year. Rebuilt with US aid in 1954, it now operates as the Eastern Power Plant Liwu Unit (東部發電廠立霧機組) with a 32 megawatt capacity.
