A memorial shrine in Xiulin, Hualien, built in 1958 for the 225 veterans who died building the Central Cross-Island Highway (中橫公路) through Taroko Gorge. Designed in the northern Chinese palace style, it is set into a cliff on the outside of a sharp bend in the Liwu River (立霧溪), directly above the spring-fed waterfall that runs year-round and gives the shrine its name. The fractured marble and schist of the gorge walls have sent landslides through the site more than once, and it has been closed since the 2024 Hualien Earthquake and Typhoon Kong-rey later that year.
