Established in 1942 as the Taiwan Governor-General’s Office Army Volunteer Training School (臺灣總督府陸軍志願兵訓練所) for Taiwanese signing up to fight in World War 2, this facility was repurposed for use by the ROC Army Logistics Command Ordnance Department (陸軍後勤司令部兵工署) after the war. Numerous military dependents’ villages sprung up all around the periphery as the depot expanded during the post-war era. The depot closed around 2004 and the complex was mostly demolished in the early 2010s, leaving a few traces until an urban renewal project gathered steam toward the end of the decade.
