The first Western-style junior high school founded in Taiwan. It was established in 1885 but relocated to its current campus in 1916. Both the lecture hall (講堂) and the principal’s residence (校長宿舍) were designated heritage sites in 2002. It now operates as Chang Jung Senior High School (臺南市私立長榮高級中學).
