Established in the early Japanese colonial era as Pulishe Sugar Factory (埔里社製糖所). It was incorporated into the Taiwan Sugar Corporation after the war but ceased operations in 1954 due to poor yield. It was then transformed into a sugar byproducts factory (埔里副產加工廠), producing flour and other products for many years, before it finally closed in the late 1990s or early 2000s. Much of the land has remained idle since then, and it seems much of the original complex has been demolished.
