A long-abandoned seafood market in Mailiao, Yunlin, next to Xucuoliao Fishing Port. It was designed and built by Formosa Plastics Group, owners of the immense No. 6 Naphtha Cracker Complex on this artificial island, in 2004. According to news reports it only operated for a month or two before shutting down due to a complete absence of traffic, which should come as no surprise. The location is extremely remote. Nowadays there is some talk of revitalizing the building and turning it into an ecological center, but that might just be wishful thinking.
